My reservation was for pick

My reservation was for pick up at Stuttgart rail station at 9 pm. Office closed at 9 pm. I got to desk at 9:25 pm, and it was closed. I went next day, and car not available, no alternative available on site. Had to go to airport to get the car, a lesser model. Would have been helpful if easyterra notified me that Hertz desk closed at the time of my reservation. I suggest that a warning be given if office is closed within 1 hour of reservation time.

Location information for Stuttgart

Introduction

Stuttgart is the capital city of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The city has several nice attractions, such as castles (Altes Schloss, Neues Schloss en Schloss Hohenheim) and museums. At some of the outdoor cafés you can enjoy a view over Stuttgart.

Population

Between 1960 and 2000 the number of inhabitants of Stuttgart constantly declined, from 2000 the number of inhabitants increased again due to the migration of young people from former East Germany. Nowadays Stuttgart has around 600,000 inhabitants.

Location

Stuttgart lies in the south of Germany, just to the north of the Black Forest and the Schwäbische Alb (Swabian Alb) low mountain range. Grapes are cultivated for wine production in the city and its surrounding areas.

Economy

The city is well known for its high grade industry and linked with research and development activities, Mercedes-Benz is an instance of this. The Mercedes-Benz museum is one of the most popular attractions in Stuttgart, Porsche and Bosch also have their head quarters in the city and Hewlett-Packard and IBM are represented with an important branch.

The viniculture around the city dates way back. Until far into the 19th century, viniculture was the most important source of income, nowadays wine still is of great importance, which is manifested by the yearly wine festival Weindorf.

Airports

The international airport Flughafen Stuttgart, along the highway A8, lies about 13 kilometers south of the city.

Public transport

The heart of Stuttgart's public transport is formed by city trains (S-Bahn) and subway (U-Bahn). The S-Bahn is useful to reach the suburbs. The U-Bahn is an excellent means of transport between places of interest in the city center, furthermore there is a large bus line network.

There are two special means of transport in Stuttgart, the rack railway between Marienplatz and Degerloch, and the funicular railway between Südheimerplatz and Waldfriedhof.

Traffic and parking

Stuttgart is perfectly accessible as it is located along the A8 (München-Karlsruhe) and the A81 (Heilbronn-Singen) highways, however, try to avoid these highways during rush hours as they get congested. Outside rush hours driving around Stuttgart is no problem.

Like many other cities in Germany the city center is an ‘Umweltzone’ (low emission zone) where only cars that have a special sticker behind their windscreen are allowed.

Hotels

Stuttgart has a fine range of hotels to offer, in all price categories. As there is a housing shortage in the city, many students and other people on an extended stay in the city choose to stay in a simple hotel. Therefore it is hard to find a room in this price category. It is recommended to book your room well in advance.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

 What is a worry-free label?
