General
Köln Hauptbahnhof is the central train station of Köln (Cologne) in Germany. The station is situated on the river Rhine and right next to the famous Cologne Cathedral. At Cologne Station, ICE, intercity, Eurocity and all regional trains stop. The ICE international train will take you in no more than 2.5 hours from Amsterdam to Cologne.
Transportation
Do you stay in the city? There are many ways to continue your journey from Cologne Station. There are plenty of taxis and they are reliable. They can be found on both sides of the station, so both on the side of the Cathedral and of the Breslauer Platz. There are two subway stations: Dom/Hauptbahnhof and Breslauer Platz/ Hauptbahnhof. They can be reached via the A-Passage inside the central concourse. There is also the S-bahn on tracks 10 and 11. There are several car rental companies inside Cologne Hauptbahnhof and in the station's direct vicinity. You can find the car rental companies Sixt, Europcar, and Avis on Passage D opposite the DB Travel Center. Hertz is located just outside the station. Bikes can be rented from several companies, all located on the Breslauer Platz. Take exit A and walk towards the Rhine. You'll see the rental companies at approximately 50 meters.

The DB Travel Center has an information desk to answer all of your questions. If you want to book or change tickets, you need to go to the DB Reisezentrum. If you fly out of Cologne on Lufthansa, you can already check-in your luggage. If you need to stay overnight, you can go to the Ibis Hotel on the D-Passage. The station also offers Wi-Fi, ATMs, luggage lockers, and a bank.
Restaurants
Cologne Station looks more like an airport than a train station. You'll therefore have plenty of choice for a quick bite to eat, but you can also wine and dine. Here you'll find everything ranging from McDonald's and Burger King to sushi bars, ice-cream parlors and coffee shops.

If you have not found what you are looking for in the shops in Cologne, Köln Hauptbahnhof offers you plenty of opportunity to go shopping. You'll find a flower shop, a nail salon, gift shops, a drugstore and a pharmacy, a perfumery, a supermarket, a deli and a large number of boutiques.
