Haugesund is located in the southwest of Norway, between the bigger cities Bergen (north of Haugesund) and Stavanger (south of the city).

The airport Haugesund Karmøy is situated seven kilometers southwest of the city. The Scandinavian Airlines SAS maintains mainly domestic flights from this airport; low-cost airlines fly to and from several European destinations. The airport is easily reachable by rental car; from the center you follow the main road (road number 47) to turn at Väge to road number 518. The route to the airport is clearly signposted.
The city has good public bus transportation, arranged by the company Kolumbus. Bus services to other cities (for example Bergen and Stavanger) are arranged by the company Kystbussen. There are also ferry connections to other places along the coast.
