Tours Station, or Gare de Tours, is situated on the Place du Général Leclerc right in the city center and dates back to 1846. The city is located in central France and is the capital of the Indre-et-Loire department. Tours Station is a terminus. From here you can take the train to for example Bordeaux, the east of France (TGV) and Le Mans. At Tours' other station, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, trains stop that don't end in Tours. Therefore more TGV lines stop here.
Do you want to visit Tours or its surroundings? The taxi stand can be found in front of the station. There are always taxis available, 24 hours a day. You don't need a reservation. Buses stop right in front of the station on the large square. City buses stop opposite the station. Regional buses stop on the left side of the square, seen from the station's main exit. It's no problem to rent a car in Tours. Avis has an office inside the concourse, but it's closed on Sundays. There's a parking garage underneath the square opposite the station where you can park.
Tickets are sold behind the main exit through door 4. The information desk can be found inside the main concourse, opposite corridor F. Next to it you'll find the waiting room. There are also a lost-and-found desk, an exchange office, luggage trolleys, restrooms (with facilities for small children), soft-drink dispensers, ATMs, Wi-Fi, and an AED.
There's a takeout restaurant of the 'Pain à la ligne' chain. Here you can buy a sandwich for the road. If you have more time, there's also a café-restaurant inside the concourse with an outside terrace. You can, however, also walk to the center where you'll find plenty of restaurants.
The station has a Relay kiosk with a large selection of newspapers, magazines, and books. There's also a Tabac.
